The Oyster Box Hotel is located in the Umhlanga resort on the Indian Ocean coast, surrounded by 2 hectares of tropical gardens and next to the famous beacon. The first Oyster Lodge on the Umhlanga shores was built in 1869, its roof worked as a navigational beacon, and in 1954 has been built an automatic beacon. Today, the hotel is the official caretaker of the beacon with the staffholding its control and management.
During the hotel restoration was carefully saved the charm of the colonial epoch. Rooms are decorated in warm colors with natural stone and wood, furnished with antique furniture and decorated with frescoes and paintings. The charm of colonial interiors matches with the objects of modern comfort, and breathtaking ocean and garden views which open from windows and spacious terraces strike imagination.
The main Grill Room Restaurant offers a wide selection of seafood dishes accompanied by the best local and international wines from the cellar. The Ocean Terrace is a beautiful terrace overlooking the ocean offers delicious Indian cuisine, English breakfasts and a la carte menu for lunch and dinner. The Palm Court Restaurant is the perfect place for a traditional afternoon tea or a relaxing cocktail in the friendscompany. The Chukka Bar offers a wide selection of light snacks and various drinks. The Lighthouse Bar with panoramic views of the beach and the ocean invites you to enjoy exotic cocktails and live music. The famous Oyster Bar offers to enjoy fresh oysters serving on the ice with a glass of chilled champagne under the gentle waves rustle and the fresh scent of sea breeze.
The hotel Spa-center includes 6 treatment rooms, swimming pool, hammam, jacuzzi, relaxation room and fitness room.
